Role

Our Data team holds the vision for driving TPR towards becoming more data-enabled, by facilitating effective use and innovative exploitation of high-quality data and promoting data as a strategic business asset.

We’re on a fast-paced journey, and in recent years TPR has been through significant technological and business change, including having fully migrated to Microsoft Azure. As part of this, new systems, including an enterprise scale Azure data platform and engineering capability, have been stood-up. This is an exciting time to join our growing team and play a key role in our continuing journey of digital transformation, towards making data the key enabler in our mission to put the saver at the heart of everything we do.

As Senior Data Quality Analyst, you will work in the Central Data Office and report into the Data Quality Manager who has overall responsibility for data quality at The Pensions Regulator. You’ll support with delivery of data management services to ensure data users have access to timely, shared, and trusted data sufficient to meet the growing demands of all the data users who need it.

You will lead on data quality initiatives to ensure the data TPR collects, stores, and uses is fit for its intended purpose, enables informed decision-making as a data-driven regulator, and can be exploited to its full potential to support innovation, digital transformation and operational efficiency at scale.

Responsibilities

You will:

  • be a specialist in data services with proven experience of managing data and change in an operational environment with a focus on continuous improvement of data and data quality, ensuring data is joined-up, accurate, consistent, and managed well in a way that meets the needs of the whole organisation
  • manage a team whose responsibilities include Master and Reference Data Management with a focus on improving the quality and consistency of data across the business
  • drive improvements and coverage of verified, matched and merged records, with initial focus on the Data Platform, to provide a trusted source of data for decision making, to drive intelligence and analytics and enable efficient business operations
  • have proven experience in the assessment of data using a range of tools/methods including data profiling, data quality business rules and root cause analysis and alignment to business outcomes, working collaboratively across business and Digital, Data and Technology teams and across boundaries to solve problems through preventative measures and remedial activity
  • deputise for the Data Quality Manager and participate in projects and programmes which may include design and iteration of digital services. With a ‘data quality first’ focus, working with/as part of a multi-disciplinary team to support the collection, creation, and use of data in smarter and more innovate ways to meet the needs of our users, at scale.
  • be a champion for data and data quality and help foster a proactive data culture at TPR

Essential and desirable criteria

The Senior Data Quality Analyst will have the following knowledge, skills, and experience:

Essential:

  • Qualified data practitioner with demonstrable working experience of data/ data quality management, master data management (MDM) and/or reference data management (RDM), in a business context with experience in using Experian Data Studio (Aperture) or similar.
  • You can affectively translate and communicate across technical and non-technical stakeholders as well as facilitate discussions within a multidisciplinary team, with potentially difficult dynamics. You can advocate for the team externally and can manage differing perspectives.
  • You will have the excellent stakeholder management skills required to collaborate with and engage with business data owners/stakeholders to continually drive data quality improvements against business objectives and outcomes.
  • You can identify issues, make recommendations and ensure that the most appropriate actions are taken to resolve problems as they occur. You can manage and coordinate a team to resolve problems and implement solutions and preventative measures.
  • You can work on your own initiative, prioritise your workload and deliverables of the team to meet deadlines to support the business deliver against its objectives.
  • Experience of data profiling, practical assessment of data, data quality reporting using a variety of methods/tools coupled with understanding the needs/outcomes for users to tell stories and present clear insight about the data for continuous improvement, decision making and prioritization.
